Montserrat is a landmark and a true Catalan icon. This stunning mountain range with its very characteristic rounded shapes is a favourite amongst tourist. Few of them, though, will experience that it's also very popular with the local motorbike enthusiasts.
If the azure-blue Mediterranean Sea and Costa Brava is a priority, saddle up for a great day! You have two options: the short or the long route. A) approx. 220km and 5 hours, B) approx. 350km and 7-8 hours (there's an additional 40€ cost).
We take a short spin uphill to Tibidabo and/or to the foot of Collserola, and find a spot to view the sun setting behind the hills. As the evening peacefully sets over Barcelona and Montjuic, we can view the traffic in the streets and the lights turn on.
After Tibidabo and Collserola, we extend the evening a bit, and continue the tour. We can either take some nice twisting backroads behind the hills and follow the sunset a bit, OR do a little crosstown driving, up on Montjuic and enjoy the grand views. You can choose as you go.
Get onboard for an invigorating tour to the Montseny mountains. It is a perfect tour to start early and finish at around lunchtime, although it's a perfect tour to do at any time during the day. Feast your eyes on the views of the landscape. The Pyrenees are easily visible.
What to do in the middle of the day? Perfect opportunity to see some less visited areas of Barcelona, and especially some of the backroads going over the hills behind the city. It's hard to believe in finding such a landscape just outside the city limits.
